Label Design & Brand System

Developed label design and visual branding for Dune Valley Distillery, a craft distillery located in Mosca, Colorado — nestled in the heart of the San Luis Valley. Working from an existing logo, the focus was on building out a cohesive label system that could carry the brand's identity across five distinct liquor styles while honoring the deep cultural and geographic heritage of one of Colorado's most distinctive regions. The result is a label family rooted in the history and character of the San Luis Valley.

Label design in the spirits industry demands close attention to state regulatory requirements, and each label was developed in full alignment with Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division standards — including mandatory disclosures, alcohol content specifications, and producer information requirements. Navigating these guidelines was a foundational part of the design process, ensuring that every compliance element was accounted for from the start and integrated cleanly into the final artwork rather than retrofitted at the end.

Striking balance

The real challenge — and success — of this project was achieving a label system that feels unmistakably unified across all five products while still giving each its own presence on the shelf. Paired with matching business cards, the full suite holds together in a way that speaks to a brand with intention behind it. The labels stand apart from the sea of craft spirits packaging without feeling forced — a balance that's harder to strike than it looks.
